I was a member of the San Francisco Fire Department. During initial testing there were over 8,000 applicants, and after competition with the applicants, my total scores enabled me to be in the first training class. I came out number 36 out of 8,000, which was in the top 1%.
I served for 7 years until I was severely injured in the line of duty, and had to retire based upon a job related injury.
In 1988 , I entered a burning building and completed a search and rescue, and extingished a burning home. As a result I received a Class D, Certificate of Merit from the San Francisco Fire Department.
